Okay, this is totally not related to thrift shopping, SAHM Style, or sewing, but I couldn't really sleep well and I got a lot of things going on through my head so I decided to get up early and here I am infront of my lappy and watching Bear Grylls videos. I watched the "Escape the Legion" episode and now I am watching Bear Grylls with Miranda. To be honest, my family is a fan of Bear Grylls and even my four-year old boy knows who he is. We love watching his survival shows and we actually call him the real "Rambo". While watching the video of him and Miranda's escapade, I was wondering what it would be like to be given the chance to go on a survival mission with him for two days. I mean, I am not the most fittest and bravest woman in the world, but there is something in me that would actually love to try. Or, this is probably just the capuccino kicking in and making me feel like I want to experience those things and conquer my fears. Either way, I still have that feeling in me that if given the chance, I would love to do it. I probably would regret it, but more likely proud and happy in the end.
It's kind of like conquering something when my husband and I along with our son hiked up to the top of the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado. About half way through our hike, I gave up and literally sat there and told my husband I couldn't go on. It was tough for, tiresome and the weather was hot and humid. When my husband told me that it would be disappointing to not finish the hike when I am almost there, just hearing that word DISAPPOINTING gave me back my strength and I crawled (literally) my way up to the top of the dune determined to finish it. To make the story short, I made it all the way up and was proud of myself that I did it. I know it is nothing like Bear Grylls would do with his survival show, but with that experience it tells me that if you really push yourself into doing something and determined about it, then you can do it. It was really a big deal for me because I never really think of myself as that strong person, but because of that experience, a year ago when I was pregnant with my second baby we went for a hike to the top of the Harney Peak in South Dakota at five months pregnant. The hike was about three hours up to the peak and 3 hours descend. I never thought I would make it because I was pregnant, but without any complications and well hydrated, I made it all the way. I patted myself on the back for making that hike. That's wasn't the only hike that we had that summer as well. We went on another four-hour hike to Curecanti Creek as well in Colorado (6 months pregnant), and to think back about my pregnancy a year ago, it was really a more active one. With that said, if Mr. Bear Grylls is reading this, it would be an honor to be given the chance even though I am not the most toughest person in the world. Wouldn't you like to do something like that to test your capabilities on how long you can actually go and test your fears? I do have a lot of fears, but I am curious at how far I can go really. I think it would be a wonderful experience, don't you think? So, yes I would love to do it. Anyway, just something that I wanted to share with you guys just incase some of you are also a fan of Bear Grylls. Have a wonderful day, everyone!!!

ReplyDeletei've only tried trekking once + i totally enjoyed it. am just not sure if i still have the stamina, given that i gained a considerable number of pounds, but i would really love to give this another shot. a trek with my little man will really be the biggest adventure! :)
ReplyDeleteoh, wow you aced your trek, with 6-month preggy tummy, to boot! way to go! ^_^
that's a nice place to visit. However, you mention something about survival mission. Ugh! I don't think i'll live. That is so scary to be stuck in the middle of nowhere. That would be the last thing in my mind when going for an adventure in the wilderness.
ReplyDeleteI did not hear that guy yet hehe maybe because we do not have a regular TV channel. Anyway, you look great in your pictures and your kiddo is cute...
